Toga
This item was already stitched in the USA and is ready to ship.
If there were a garment that represents the traditions of ancient Rome it would have be the toga! It can be seen on statues and paintings from the founding of Rome in 753 B.C.E. until the end of the Roman Empire in 476 C.E. The basic shape of all togas was roughly the same but there were important variations in color and decoration that offered clues as to the wearer's place in society. As Rome evolved the toga became longer and at one point the people of Rome were required to wear them. Dignitaries and nobles would even wear togas made of a length of fabric up to 18 feet long.
Our Toga is 6 yards long and 15 feet wide.
Made from lightweight polycotton.
This is a flat sheet of fabric that has been hemmed. It is meant to be worn with a Chiton or Dalmatica. Although some Roman politicians would go bare chested in a toga to show their manliness and warrior spirit.
This garment can be machine washed and dried on low. Like all Garb the World garments, we stitch them to be worn and washed like 'regular' clothing.
